On the Road

Acclaimed TV documentary producer Joani Tang 鄧婉媚 passed away on March 20, 2016 at the age of 49. She graduated from the Department of Fine Arts and Department of English Studies and Comparative Literature, HKU and was a resident of Old Halls from 1985 to 1988.

She worked for various media companies, including Television Broadcasts Ltd, Asia Television Limited, and Hong Kong Television Network Limited. Her documentaries, such as “Stories from Afar Series” (尋找他鄉的故事), “Hong Kong Today” (今日睇真D), and “On the Road Series” (向世界出發), are regarded as classics in the history of Hong Kong documentary TV programmes. One of her works, “Kung Fu Dragons of Wudang”, produced for the National Geographic Channel, was honoured with a Bronze award at the New York Festival in 2004.
