Fellowship Award Ceremony

Willy Wong 黃宗顯MBBS 2001

 

Dr Wong is a specialist in psychiatry working for the Hospital Authority and is an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care at HKU.

 

He was honoured with a Fellowship Award from the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology at the World Psychiatric Association Regional Congress Osaka held in association with the 111th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology in June 2015.  Through a network of Fellowship recipients, he will be involved in organising e-lectures for mental health professionals in developing countries to advance their skills in the psychiatric field.

 

He has special interest in adult psychiatric disorders, intellectual disabilities and developmental disorders.  Other than his clinical work, he is active in promoting mental wellness in Hong Kong, Macau and the Chinese Mainland.  He is a newspaper columnist and author of several books about mental health issues.  He recently published a Chinese-language book about public mental health education called 《隱在你身邊的精神病患》.

 

He is also a host of the radio programme Dark Forest broadcast by Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited.  He is heavily involved in community work with multiple non-government organisations such as Lok Chi Association Limited, Mental Health Association of Hong Kong, St. James’ Settlement, and Hong Chi Association.  He is currently pioneering a worldwide mental wellness programme for seafarers to improve their psychological mental wellbeing as well as to decrease the risk of suicide.
