A romance – 10 years in the making

Ronnie and Tony took their pre-wedding photo at MB221A

Ronnie Tsui 徐敏明BA 2005

It all started at the Main Building, in Room 221A (MB221A).

Ronnie and Tony first met there at a casual meeting of the Arts Association, HKUSU. Tony assumed the position of General Secretary of the Association later that year, while Ronnie turned her focus to the Film Society.

They were not close friends and only kept in touch through Facebook until, that is, ten years after they first met Tony invited Ronnie out for a dinner. As they both are English majors and share interests in literature, history and the performing arts, Ronnie and Tony came back to visit HKU together before the Faculty of Arts moved to the Centennial Campus. They also celebrated HKU’s centenary together, and attended the Bricks Wall Opening Carnival together.

Love blossomed, and they decided to get married last year. Their pre-wedding photos were taken at MB221A, the “origin” of their love.

“HKU is the place that cultivated my thinking. The Main Building holds a lot of shared memories for Tony and me. He can even recall the very moment we first met in the Main Building when we were between lectures. We met again when we were much more mature and ‘marriage-ready’. We definitely want to raise a family if it is God's plan for us,” says Ronnie.
