HKU MBA – the First High Table

Nov 21, 2015

Ranked first in Asia for the 6th consecutive year in The Economist’s World MBA Rankings and third in the world in The Economist’s Return on Investment (ROI) of Full-time MBA programmes 2013, the HKU MBA Programme is recognised worldwide for its many achievements, although it has a relatively short history.

The first HKU MBA Programme High Table was held on November 21, 2015 at Loke Yew Hall. Organised by a group of current students and alumni, it was attended by over 250 faculty staff, alumni and current students.

The dinner was honoured by the presence of the Guest of Honour Mr Dicky Yip 葉迪奇 (DipManStud 1978; MBA 1984), BBS, MBE, J.P.. In his speech, entitled “Opportunities”, Mr Yip told of how his MBA education had assisted him in recognising opportunities and achieving his career goals of becoming, among others, the HSBC CEO China as well as the Commanding Officer of the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force. He gave his views on the outlook of the financial services industry in the region and how Hong Kong, as a link between China and the world, offers immense opportunities for HKU MBA graduates. During the event, there were also cultural performances by the Hong Kong Vigor Marching Band and the Hong Kong Police Choir.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr Alex Fung 馮俊鵬 (BBA 2004; MBA Year 2), expressed his wish that the High Table, a longstanding tradition of the University, would be a memorable experience for current MBA students, while also serving as a homecoming event where alumni could reconnect with their alma mater, and would ultimately strengthen the bonds of the HKU MBA family.
