Banking – what do “banks” strike to you?  Beautiful banknotes, smiling branch staff, ATM machines that never get tired, or the safe Heaven for your immense wealth?  Have you ever thought about a career in banking with the likes of t-test, regression, segmentation, VAR, normal distribution, statistical significance? 

Reinsurance – how do you understand “reinsurance”? Reinsurance is offered to insurers to transfer their risks to the reinsurers as a means of risk management, but how would they estimate their risk exposure? What is the role of reinsurance broker? Are you interested to join reinsurance brokers as statistical analysts, catastrophe modeler and actuaries?

Ana obtained her Master in Statistics degree from the University of Hong Kong, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

Mr. Matthew Tong is a Senior Vice President in Guy Carpenter’s Hong Kong office.  He joined Guy Carpenter in 2005 handling reinsurance broking as well as technical and actuarial services to clients for Hong Kong and Taiwan markets.  Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, he worked at SCOR Reinsurance Co. Ltd., Hong Kong as Actuarial Executive and Treaty Underwriter for 11 years, handling treaty actuarial pricing for Asia-Pacific region and treaty underwriting for Taiwan market. 

Mr. Tong has a Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science and Applied Statistics at University of Toronto, Canada, Master of Business Administration at University of New South Wales, Australia, Graduate Diploma of Insurance at Deakin University, Australia, and Master of Statistics at University of Hong Kong.  He is a fellow of Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
